Is OnePlus 6 waterproof & does it have Wireless Charging?

Yes and no! The OnePlus 6 is water-resistant but does not have wireless charging. Also, if you expected the phone to have a fully waterproof body, you would be wrong. The phone has an IP68 Water and Dust resistant rating just like all the other flagship smartphones.

OnePlus 6 is the first OnePlus phone to come with some sort of water resistance. It’s also the first phone to come with wireless charging. Not only that, the company has put on the right features at the right time. With the launch of the iPhone X, everyone is talking about wireless charging and many types of furniture and even cars come with wireless charging pads built0in. OnePlus couldn’t put on a wireless charging coil at a better time.

OnePlus 6 Qi Wireless Charging

It’s the same standard used by LG, Samsung, HTC and Apple. So. that’s again another good news for the OnePlus followers who are looking to buy a new OnePlus phone, specifically the OnePlus 6.

Update: The OnePlus 6 is official and turns out the phone doesn’t get any form of wireless charging. All the rumors indicating the phone to come with Qi Wireless Charging turns out to be false. Many rumors suggested it to be a real deal because OnePlus decided to go with a glass back instead of metal ones, unlike its predecessor.

OnePlus 6 IP68 Water Resistance

OnePlus 6 is the first phone to feature IP68. It means that the phone is fully dustproof and can be submerged in water with a depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes. However, keep in mind- even though this phone is water-resistant, it’s best not kept in water. The rating is for clear water and not salty or seawater. So, a lot of salt in the water can evidently kill the phone.

  1. Are there any sources confirming the wireless charging, or are you only reasoning based on the glass back? How exactly do you know that the Qi standard is implemented? I know it’s the most popular, but does anything state and confirm this fact?
