Nokia 4.2 is now set to officially launch in the US. The entry-level phone from Nokia is priced at $189 in the US and comes with 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage. For an entry-level model, users are going to be more than satisfied with what is offered. The phone had gone in pre-sale on April 30 on Amazon and Best Buy. The devices will start shipping on May 14th.
The Nokia 4.2 will be offered in color options when it finally launches- Pink Sand and Black. While the phone is offered in 2GB+16GB configuration in the Chinese market, the US model of the Nokia 4.2 will only come in 3GB+32GB configuration. And for $189, I think HMD has nailed with the pricing.
Talking about other hardware, the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 octa-core SoC which should more than sufficient for running apps like Facebook and Instagram. In fact, you can even run demanding game like PUBG on low settings. The Nokia 4.2 has 3000mAh battery which is enough to get you through a day’s usage. Micro-USB cable is used for charging. We wish the phone had a USB-C port but at this price point, I may be asking for a little too much.
The Nokia 4.2 has 5.71-inch HD+ display. While the resolution isn’t all that high, users are going to enjoy the large display which is great for social media usage and media consumption. If you aren’t used to using high-end phones, you are unlikely to notice the pixels in the phone anyway.
Talking about the camera, you get a decent dual-camera setup (13MP+2MP) on the back and an 8MP shooter on the front. While the phone takes good phones in broad daylight, once it starts getting dark, you will quickly notice the quality of the image deteriorate. All-in-all, you really can’t complain about the image quality when you consider the price of the smartphone.
