If you have been shopping for the Mi Band 4, you should have noticed that there are two variants of the fitness tracker in offer: the Mi Band 4 Chinese variant and the Mi Band 4 Global variant. In this article, we will be covering the differences between the Mi Band 4 Chinese and the Global variant. Let’s get to it.
One difference you will find outright between the two variants of the fitness tracker is the price. The Chinese variant can be found for a couple of dollars less when compared to the global edition of the Mi Band 4. The Chinese variant Mi Band 4 is currently priced around $30 in AliExpress while the Global variant of the fitness tracker is priced at $37. Is it worth spending a little more for the Global variant? Well, it depends.
1) Language differences
First things first, when you connect your Mi Band 4 Chinese variant to a phone which has English language by default, the Band 4 will automatically display everything in English. So, if you are fine with having English text, just go for the Chinese variant. The Chinese Mi Band 4 can display all the text in either English or Chinese but the language cannot be set to any other language.
The global variant, however, can show the text in language of your choice. And by default, on the Global Mi Band 4, the language is set to English.
2) The Manual
For some reason, the global variant of the Mi Band 4 comes with a thick manual booklet while the Chinese Mi Band 4 comes with a very small booklet printed in Chinese.
3) FCC Certification Mark
Just as it was the case with the Mi Band 3, the Mi Band 4 Global variant comes with CE and FCC certification mark. Since China has no strict regulations and need not have certificates on every component, the Chinese variant has skipped on the certification. It should have certainly saved Xiaomi some money in the process.
These are all the differences between the Mi Band 4 Chinese vs Global variant. If you want English language in your Mi Band 4 and want to save some money, I recommend you to get the Chinese variant of the band. You don’t lose out on any functionality and the hardware is identical in both the cases.
