LG Tribute Dynasty Review: Best Phone under $60

The LG Tribute Dynasty is the first LG phone of 2018 and it’s a good one too. 2017 was a year full of bezel-less phones and the prices of phones were higher than ever! However, the  Dynasty isn’t expensive. In fact, it’s just the opposite. The phone retails for $99 but can be have had for $99 $59 as of now. The LG Tribute Dynasty is available at Sprint and Boost Mobile. It’s also heading to the T-Mobile network and will be available by the end of January,2018. Let’s start with the key features of the LG Tribute Dynasty:

  • Availability: January, 2018
  • 5-inch 720p IPS HD Display
  • Mediatek MT6750 SoC clocked @1.5GHz
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB Internal Storage
  • 8MP Rear Camera with LED Flash
  • 5MP Front Camera
  • 1080p Video Recording
  • Android 7.1.2 (Nougat)
  • 2500mAh Battery
  • 4G LTE Connectivity
  • Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor

The LG Tribute Dynasty is a budget phone and the design of the phone just shows that. The bezels around the display of the phone are thick and the design is generic overall. There’s nothing wow about the design of the phone.

LG has finally decided not to put their company logo on the front of the phone. Also, there’s no hardware button on the front of the phone. I personally think that hardware navigation buttons would have been a better choice especially since the phone already houses that enormous bezel on the front.

Around the back, the phone has a single 8MP rear camera alongside a LED flash light. There’s a power button right below the camera. And for those who are curious, there’s no fingerprint scanner on the LG Tribute Dynasty. That’s just a regular power button we have seen as standard on LG phones for quite a while now.

The display on the LG Tribute Dynasty is good. It’s not exceptionally good but is one of the best in its class. The 720p display resolution is good enough and when the phone is placed in normal viewing distance, you won’t notice pixels either. The phone is using an IPS LCD Display with good enough viewing angle.

The LG Tribute Dynasty display has also good colors. The display colors don’t look muted in anyways but don’t offer the same level of punch you would find in an Amoled display.

The LG Tribute Dynasty is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 which is a quad-core processor. The processor is clocked @1.5GHz and the performance out of the phone is decent. The processor is good enough to run most of the apps on the Play Store. If you are buying this phone for performing basic tasks such as Facebook and Instagram, you will definitely be pleased with this phone.

The Tribute Dynasty can also handle pretty intensive games such as Asphalt 8 and Temple Run 2, although in a lower resolution with lowered down graphics.

The camera has to be one of the weakest points of the LG Tribute Dynasty. The rear 8MP camera and the front 5MP cameras are just not good enough. ON broad daylight, the phone performs pretty well but it really doesn’t hold up as things get darker. At this price point, many of the Chinese smartphones deliver better camera performance.

The front 5MP camera is good enough for occasional selfies and is good when there is sufficient lighting in the surroundings. When the lightning isn’t adequate, you will find out that the photos come out too soft. The software on the phone does it trying to clean out the grains from the noise. All-in-all, if you are looking to buy the phone for a good camera experience, look elsewhere.

The LG Tribute Dynasty is an entry-level phone and doesn’t have many special features that are worth a mention. However, a unique yet cool feature that this phone has, has to be the rear-mounted power button. It not only looks good but it placed very conveniently as well. The other special feature that this phone possesses has to be the removable battery which is a rare feature to have.

Also, as you would expect, the LG Tribute Dynasty has a 3.5mm which will soon be a phone of the past.

The LG Tribute Dynasty has a decently sized 2500mAh battery. And while it may not sound as much, it is perfectly adequate for a phone of this size. Also, efficient SoC and lower resolution help to get better battery endurance results.

The LG Tribute Dynasty easily lasts a day in normal usage. And even heavy users will get the phone through a day. Also, what’s cool about this phone is the fact that the battery is user-replaceable and you can do it within minutes. Just get a spare battery and you can reach 0-100% in minutes! The removable battery is a good feature of having especially in an entry-level phone like this one.

The Verdict: LG Tribute Dynasty Review

The LG Tribute Dynasty is a good phone for the price. If you are coming from a bar-phone or if this is your first smartphone, you will love this phone. The phone has gets the basics right.

The LG Tribute Dynasty has a decent design, a good display, a great SoC and a decent camera. The battery life on this phone is excellent. And the price of the LG Tribute Dynasty is what sets it apart from the competition. You won’t find any phone as good as this one for the price. $59 for an Android smartphone with so many features is without any doubt a great value.

If you are tight on budget and are looking for a phone that will run most of the apps out there without any fuss, the LG Tribute Dynasty is the way to go. The phone is currently available on Boost Mobile and Sprint network. So, this was our LG Tribute Dynasty review. Hope you found it useful.
