With so many great smartphones coming out, more so from Chinese brands, the demand for tablets is dwindling. If you get a tablet, you make sure its one of a kind, but however, there are still some who would want an average tablet, just for daily normal stuff. And if that is the case, here is just that from AllDoCube, a Chinese brand. AllDoCube recently released the AllDoCube Freer X9 Tablet, for around $200. An affordable device, really, but what does the tablet offer you? Not all that much, apparently. Find out what, in AllDoCube Freer X9 Tablet Review: Your Average Joe.
You’ve probably figured how what the AllDoCube Freer X9 Tablet is, by the name of the review: AllDoCube Freer X9 Tablet Review: Your Average Joe. But there are things about this you might like, and others you won’t. This is a detailed review of the mid-ranger tablet. So, read on and see for yourself what this is on AllDoCube Freer X9 Tablet Review: Your Average Joe.
AllDoCube Freer X9: Design
First off, the design of the tablet. Let me tell you right now, this tablet isn’t gonna earn any extra points for design. It got a pretty general “tablet” design, with aluminum unibody on the back and sides. The metal build has been made even more durable with an anodic oxide gray coating, which also gives it a metallic luster and a premium look and feel. The power and volume keys are on the right, while the 3.5 mm audio jack and USB-C port are on the bottom. The top has a microSD card slot. The front of the tablet features bold bezels, it’s clear that it is not shy about them, either. The top features a front camera while the bottom of the front has a home button, which, unfortunately, isn’t a fingerprint sensor.
The design screams that it is an average tablet for your average use. It doesn’t look all that unique or fashionable like those fancy iPads, or ones from Samsung, which might be a turn-down for some. For a tablet which is meant to be used with two hands, I would’ve preferred something with thinner bezels, if not bezel-less.
AllDoCube Freer X9: Display
One thing the Freer X9 gets some points in is the display. Sure, you cannot compare it to the likes of high-end tablets, but the display on this is pretty decent. At least, I liked it. The display is an 8.9″ IPS LCD display with 2560 x 1600 resolution, with about 340 PPI. I mean, that is one of the best displays we can see on Chinese tablets. Its display beats even that of the Google Pixel C’s. With JDI Display technology, it offers high contrast and detailed frames while consuming lesser power. Colors are bright, vivid, sharp and its a treat watching media on this tablet. You can also use it outside in some level of sunlight, but it does suffer from reflections, so, you have to compromise a little in this part.
As I said, as long as you don’t compare this device to the likes of high-end tabs from Samsung, you won’t have any reason to complain.
AllDoCube Freer X9: Camera
Next up AllDoCube Freer X9 Tablet Review: Your Average Joe, is the camera. Now, cameras on tablets are not much of importance, really, but still, it is a matter of concern. The primary camera is a 13 MP shooter with some average level of Auto Focus feature. The autofocus is slow and will take a while to adjust to the surroundings if you want a picture that’s good enough. The colors come out alright and the pictures might not disappoint you… as long as you don’t compare them to other high-end tablet cameras.
The front camera is a 5 MP shooter, which, honestly will only be useful for face-timing. Else, the front camera is not very good. Colors are washed out, and you won’t really be pleased with your selfies on this one.
AllDoCube Freer X9: Platform and OS
The AllDoCube Freer X9 is powered by MediaTek MT8173V Quad-Core processor which include two 1.8 GHz Cortex A72 and two 1.4 GHz Cortex A53 chips. A 4 GB RAM supports all this, making it quite a good performer. Also, it is equipped with Imagination PowerVR GX6250 GPU, which makes for great gaming as well. That being said, not all the games run smoothly. High-end games like N.O.V.A take a while to load but run without any lag though. Similar case with the likes of Asphalt. But playing smaller games and doing other stuff like streaming HD videos and multi-tasking is quite the breeze.

The tablet runs on Android 6.0, Marshmallow, which might be outdated for devices that are just coming out, but it’s fine, really. The OS gives very less bloatware and good user experience on the tablet, anyway.
AllDoCube Freer X9: Battery and Storage
The battery size on the Freer X9 is great. A 5500 mAh Li-Po battery rests inside the body, which will last you quite a while. You can get through 3 days with normal usage, but if its heavy gaming or heavy usage, you might want to charge it like every other day. The X9 doesn’t come with its own wall charger, so, you’ll have to use your smartphone’s. And depending on it, charging time can be anywhere from around 4-6 hours for taking it from 0 to 100%.
You get 64 GB of internal storage on the tablet, which is quite enough, if you ask me. With not a very good camera, there will be very fewer pictures and videos, so, it should work for storing like a ton of games and movies. However, you do have a microSD card slot in case, so, no worries in the storage department.
AllDoCube Freer X9: Conclusion
So, to conclude AllDoCube Freer X9 Tablet Review: Your Average Joe, we come to the conclusion that there are good things and bad things about this tablet in balance. The display is pretty good, with a performance that’s good enough or great for mid-rangers. The battery life is just great and this tablet will be a treat for social media browsing and watching movies and stuff.
However, it loses points in the design spectrum, and the cameras. The design is not appealing at all while the cameras make you feel like there’s no point in it really. So, overall, the regular tablet for average usage for regular people. It really is your average Joe.
